personal development resources to empower women
Unlock your full potential
When Women Rise, Society Benefits.
We know (thanks to science) that a proactive approach vs a reactive
mindset to personal development is how we flourish.
Here you will find helpful resources where I share my perspective on
how to thrive in your career and life.
What is coaching?Coaching helps people be better and unlock their potential so they can thrive in all they do, personally and professionally. Coaching is not about telling people what to do; it is helping them clarify and control their life. It helps people evaluate what they are currently doing in light of their goals, dreams, values and intentions. Coaching gives people choices and leads to change. Coaching helps a person go beyond the mental blocks of what they thought was possible. Coaching works as a partnership between coach and client, it helps to clarify goals, to make them challenging and motivating, then to achieve those goals with the energy that comes from their deepest values. Coaches are specially trained to work with people in all walks of life to help them achieve their goals, live their values and be the best they can be.
Who hires a coach? All sorts of people, from all walks of life. There is a misunderstanding that you need to be in crisis or have problems to seek coaching. This coudn't be further from the truth. Organisations hire coaches to improve teamwork, to coach executives and help managers. Individuals hire coaches to improve their life, their relationships, and their general happiness. Coaching is for everyone, and I'm passionate about making it accessible.
What happens in a coaching session?During the session people can expect a thought-provoking conversation that creates awareness, and moves them forward towards their desired future goal. A coach will support, guide and challenge them during the sessions, helping them identify any blockers so they can move towards their future goal.
Where does the coaching take place?Coaching takes place in the comfort of your own home/office over Zoom video conferencing. Face to face sessions may be possible in Bristol. Please get in touch to enquire if this is a preference.
How is coaching different from counselling and mentoring?People seek therapy or counselling because they feel dissatisfied with their life and want relief from psychological and/or physical symptoms. They want to get away from pain or discomfort rather than move towards desired goals. Therapy and counselling often seek to understand the past and what went wrong in order to be better in the present. Mentoring involves giving advice and sharing personal/business experience and expertise. A mentor is someone who is where the person aspires to be, and they seek their help to learn from them. Coaching focuses on the present and the future. A coach helps people gain clarity on what they want and helps them map out how to get there. A coach may work with someone who has a good life, but wants to enhance it and make it even better. A coach believes people have all the answers within them, which is why they never tell or advise people on what to do. A coach is your creative thinking partner.
